Why did you choose to spend most (if not all) of your career at WVU Medicine?
It has consistently provided an environment where I can grow, take on new challenges, and contribute in meaningful ways. The organization’s strong culture of collaboration, continuous improvement, and investment in its people has made it a place where I’ve been able to expand my skills and advance professionally. The supportive relationships I’ve built here have reinforced my decision to stay and build my career here.
What changes have you witnessed during your time with the organization?
So much has changed in the 21 years I have been with the organization. I have observed a substantial shift in how care is delivered and how patients engage with their care. There is a much stronger emphasis on quality outcomes, patient experience, access to care, and safety.
What are you most proud of and why?
My family. They are my greatest source of joy and fulfillment and provide constant support, encouragement, and perspective. My family motivates me to do my best both personally and professionally and reminds me daily of what truly matters.
What advice would you give to someone just starting their career at WVU Medicine?
My advice would be to build relationships, ask questions, and stay open to learning. Take time to understand how your role fits into the bigger picture, and don’t be afraid of new challenges. Most importantly, keep the patient at the center of everything you do. Your work matters, no matter your role.
